As we conclude our series in the book of Ruth, we are reminded that if we're trusting in our Saviour Jesus for salvation, we too will be preserved by God, brought from emptiness to fullness and welcomed into God's family forever. Then, we can say with Naomi's friends, "Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer."

In Chapter 3, we see Naomi's plan spring into action as Ruth effectively asks Boaz to marry her. It is a risky plan but as we find out, God is in control so the women need not fear. The women's faith reminds us that true faith involves stepping out, integrity, is rooted in a promise and involves waiting - timeless truths that can inspire and motivate our faith today too.

We continue our series in the book of Ruth, 'In Search of a Rescuer' and explore the theme of lovingkindness. In Chapter 2, the lovingkindness of Boaz, which leaves Ruth in awe, points us to the ultimate lovingkindness of our Saviour Jesus.

At the start of our sermon series in the book of Ruth, we are warned by the two dangerous mistakes that Naomi makes. She took matters into her own hands by making decisions for the wrong reasons and not living out what she said she believed, which resulted in disaster. In contrast, Ruth acts in sacrificial love and kindness and provides Naomi with hope, pointing us to her future descendant, Jesus, who would act in sacrificial love and kindness to save us. Will we trust in the Lord's plans to save us?

On this joyous occasion of baptism, we reflect on the good news about what Jesus has done for us and how we must respond - be believing and being baptised. If we are convinced that Jesus died to pay the price for our sin and convinced that Jesus rose beating the power of sin and death, then we will be convinced that everything has changed. We will be transformed into a new creation, made truly alive through Christ who gave everything for us.

We are encouraged by King David's words in Psalm 139 of who we are in Christ. He knows us completely, He holds us securely and He loves us intimately, so our only response is to love Him back passionately. The world may tell us that we have to search within ourselves to find out who we are, but the Bible tells us a better story. God made us, God loves and we belong to Him only.

At the start of this new year, Pastor Paul shares a verse for 2024 with us from the apostle Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus. We are reminded how kindness, compassion and forgiveness should mark God's people because we have been shown great kindness, compassion and forgiveness in Christ.

This is the message from Christmas Day 2023. When the right time had come, God sent his son to redeem and save us. Why? So that we might be brought safely home, welcomed into his forever family and looking forward to spending eternity with him.

On Christmas Eve 2023, we reflect on how Jesus' coming at Christmas time is the fulfilment of all the prophecies and promises made throughout the Old Testament. He brings blessing, salvation and will reign forever! He breaks down barriers and he came for ALL people. Jesus is the hope of the ages!

This message is from our Carols by Candlelight service. We are encouraged from Isaiah's prophecy that many years ago, God promised to come near and fix all that is broken with our world. And then he did what he said he would do and came to be with us at Christmas time when Jesus was born to save us.

What, Where and When

We meet every Sunday at 10.30am to worship God, speak to Him in prayer and hear from His Word together. Expect a warm welcome from our Welcome Team who will answer any questions you may have and help you find a seat. Our Sunday Services typically last 90 minutes and include a mix of modern and traditional songs led by a small contemporary worship group, times of prayer, the Bible reading and the main event: the Bible talk (sermon). For more information on what to expect on a Sunday, check out our dedicated Sundays page here. We meet at the church building and you can find full details of our address here. You are most welcome to join us and we hope to see you on a Sunday morning soon!

What about my children?

At GBC, we believe that as church family, it is good to meet together to worship the Lord as one body and for all ages to be welcomed and transformed by the preached Word of God (Romans 10:17). For this reason, our services are all-in and include Bible Bites, action songs and fun and accessible sermon packs to help each age and stage engage with and be nurtured by the main Bible teaching. For more information on how this works in practice, check out our dedicated Sundays for Families page here.
